In 2013 Shopmobility participated in the University of Glasgow Settlement Find a Solution programme to establish reasons why usage of the service was falling. The report produced by students remains useful and continues to inform policy.
During this coming summer of 2018 Shopmobility Paisley & District will be working again in partnership with the University of Glasgow Settlement, through its annual Find a Solution programme. http://gusettlement.org/ .
A team of two interns, recent graduates of the University will join Shopmobility Paisley & District for a period of eight weeks to undertake a project involving updating membership records, conducting a survey of members and scoping the history of our organisation.
This year’s project started on Monday 18th June 2018 and will end on Thursday 30th August 2018 when the interns will take part in the Find a Solutions Presentations 2018.
Over the coming months the interns will:
Contact all members currently registered requesting that they renew their membership.
Review our membership records to ensure compliance with current legislation regarding data protection.
Design and analyse a survey of members and conduct follow-up interviews with a sample of members.
Scope the history of Shopmobility Paisley & District by reviewing archived documents and interviewing founders, past and present Board members, employees, volunteers, members and partners.
We hope the partnership will be both enjoyable and productive and we expect the project to deliver work that will inform our awareness of our history, improve our evaluation, assist us in our relationship with members, shape policy and help us develop the service for the benefit of our members and the community.
Social Media Weeks 1 & 2 Update. 28/06/2018:
We have had a productive first couple of weeks working with Gerry and the rest of the team at Shopmobility Paisley & District.
On Day 1, we were given a full induction in the Shopmobility offices, followed by a health and safety briefing.
We have created a Survey which we hope to send out to Shopmobility members by the end of week 2.
Moreover, we have conducted a detailed interview with Paisley Historian and former Shopmobility member Les Fernie. This interview has provided a lot of key information that we can use to help us gain a greater understanding of the history of Shopmobility Paisley.
In week 2, we have looked into data protection laws such as the GDPR to ensure that Shopmobility Paisley conducts itself in accordance with the latest data protection legislation.
Furthermore, we have commenced our desktop research into the History of Shopmobility Paisley. This has involved us searching Paisley Library archives for files and newspaper articles on Shopmobility Paisley. The collated history of Shopmobility Paisley & District shall be included in a leaflet which will be completed in the forthcoming weeks.

Weeks 4 & 5 update
With some great team effort, we managed to send 914 surveys and membership renewal forms out to our members.
Took us a wee while to stuff and lick the envelopes but we’re already getting some great results back.
Next, we’ll be getting ready to analyse all the results that are pouring in.
On the history front, we’ve dived into the electronic archives which mostly consist of hundreds of internal files and news posts.
Excited for the board meeting and our upcoming interviews later this week.
