WHO runs Shopmobility?
Shopmobility Paisley and District is a registered charity and operates to the guidelines published by Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Our charity number is SC023852 and our details can be viewed on the OSCR website. The charity is managed by a board of trustees, who are all volunteers and who determine the charities management strategy. The number of trustees can vary, there can be a maximum of ten (10) trustees on the board. However, there must be a minimum number of four (4) trustees to operate legally. The Board of Trustees meets once a month.
The monthly Board of Trustees meetings are not open to the public but the SPD Annual General Meeting is and is held annually on the second Wednesday of November at the Disability Resource Centre, Love Street, Paisley and all members of SPD and the general public are welcome to attend.
The Board of Trustees meetings are to provide overall governance of SPD in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and best practice in order to promote independence amongst mobility impaired, older and disabled people. A number of the Shopmobility volunteers and board members have mobility impairments so fully understand the issues faced by those with limited mobility.
Shopmobility Paisley and District relies on support from volunteers who give their time and services freely, whether it’s to help in the office, look after our equipment, escort our users around the town centre or even organise a fundraising event.
As a charity we rely on donations to fund our service and donations are always gratefully received.
Do you have some spare time to help other people?
As a volunteer you’d be helping to deal with enquiries from our service users; taking bookings and completing paperwork; registering new users; escorting and assisting users in the use of the equipment; helping with fundraising and even training new volunteers.
If you’d like to make a donation or volunteer to help us then please telephone 0141 889 0441 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
